abc rn: workers of all lands unite

‘A writer who can’t write, with appalling taste in men, finds herself in possession of a mysterious itch.’

My first radio play is out now as part of producer Camilla Hannan’s Oz Gothic series on Radio National Fictions. It’s an adaptation of my short story, ‘Workers of All Lands Unite’, in Kill Your Darlings’ New Australian Fiction 2019.

Thanks to Camilla, series producer Sophie Townsend, and the rest of the fantastic cast and crew, including Candice Leask, Arisa Yura and Josephine Cheah, who kindly let me watch them record their performances last year.

Thanks also to a bunch of generous people for assistance with research and translation: Ng Yu, Angelina Lam, Chua Boon Ching, Rioko Tega, Kazumi Ito, Alice Xin Liu, David Smith and Kabir. To Ian See for casting a second eye over some final decisions. And to Teik-Kim Pok and Helen Tan for helping us find Josephine to play the aunt in her acting debut.

Listen to the episode at this link or wherever you usually get your podcasts. It’s also airing this Saturday 8 February on ABC Radio National after the 1pm news.
