interview with READ WRITE THINK REPEAT

Here’s an interview I did with Sarah Fallon at READ WRITE THINK REPEAT. We talked about Portable Curiosities, working with illustrators, and my exciting new project with Math Paper Press: BooksActually’s Gold Standard. Sarah also recently wrote an article for Overland: What does everyone have against speculative fiction?. In it, she discusses ‘The Sister Company’, one of the stories in Portable Curiosities.

    • the next village

My grandfather used to say: ‘Life is astoundingly short. To me, looking back over it, life seems so foreshortened that I scarcely understand, for instance, how a young man can decide to ride over to the next village without being afraid that – not to mention accidents – even the span of a normal happy life may fall far short of the time needed for such a journey.’

      — Franz Kafka, translated by Willa and Edwin Muir.
